Terms & Conditions

  1. General

(a) Newport Pet Services prides itself on caring for your pet(s) as we would do our own, however, the client must ensure they provide all necessities to enable us to appropriately care for your pet(s). This includes (but is not limited to) food, water, bowls, bedding, leads/collars, flea/worm treatment, litter trays, etc.

(b) While every effort is made to leave your home in a clean and tidy state, Newport Pet Services cannot be held responsible for any mess left behind by your pet(s), such as mud, dirt, urine, faeces, vomit, etc.

(c) When dog walking in inclement weather, every effort is made to keep your dog away from mud and puddles, however, this is not always possible. Upon returning to your home, Newport Pet Services will always make every effort to wipe down muddy paws but cannot accept any responsibility for any mess or dirt caused by your pet(s).

(d) Newport Pet Services cannot be held responsible for any damage your pet(s) cause to your home and/or belongings.

(e) Newport Pet Services is insured in the event that your pet is injured as a result of negligence while in our care, however, we cannot accept responsibility for any accident or injury that befalls your pet that we could not have prevented. For this reason, we recommend that all clients have their own pet insurance.

(f) Should an animal become ill or injured while in our care, we will always take them to your preferred veterinary surgeon or, in the event of an emergency, the nearest veterinary surgeon to our location. It will be the responsibility of the client to ensure all veterinary fees are paid in full.

(g) It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that their pet(s) are microchipped/tagged where appropriate and that the contact details are kept up-to-date.

(h) For overnight pet sitting bookings, a clean bedroom and bathroom must be provided for the pet sitter’s use. To ensure the health of our staff, we can only accept overnight pet sitting bookings in non-smoking homes.

  1. Payment Terms

(a) Payment for dog walking and pet taxi services is required in advance.

(b) Pet sitting and pet chaperone services require a non-refundable 50% deposit at the time of booking with the remaining 50% to be paid no later than two weeks before the first date of pet sitting/chaperoning commences. If the first date of pet sitting/chaperoning is less than two weeks away at the time of booking, then a non-refundable payment will be required in full.

(c) Double rate will be charged for any services required on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday and any other Bank Holidays recognised in the United Kingdom.

(d) A 50% surcharge will be applied to any dog walks/pet visits required after 8pm.

  1. Cancellation Policy

(a) Dog walking and pet taxi services cancelled by the client with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged at full rate and will not be entitled to a refund.

(b) Dog walks cancelled with more than 48 hours’ notice can be “banked” and rolled over for use the following month.

(c) Pet sitting/chaperoning services cancelled by the client with more than two weeks’ notice will not be entitled to a refund of their 50% deposit, however, will not be expected to pay the remaining 50% balance.

(d) Pet sitting/chaperoning services cancelled by the client with less than two weeks’ notice will be charged in full.

  1. Data Privacy Policy

(a) In order to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that came into effect on 25th May 2018, it is our duty to inform all clients that Newport Pet Services holds the following information about them:

  • Name, address, telephone number and e-mail address of client
  • Name(s) of pets, breed details, and whether they are microchipped, insured, neutered and vaccinated
  • Emergency contact details
  • Veterinary surgeon’s details

(b) This information is held by Newport Pet Services purely for the purposes of conducting their business as pet sitters/dog walkers and is not passed to third parties in any way.
